These are very important things to co... Great post! These are very important things to consider in a story. My opinion is that I'm a trifle ambivalent about origin stories. For the most part, if there's a character I really like, of course I want to know more about them, why they do what they do, and what circumstances led to where they are now. The more detail the better! On the other hand, sometimes these origin stories are handled...poorly. Sometimes a mysterious character can be left mysterious, and that's all right.<br /> The origin story that interests me the most would be Albus Dumbledore, from the Harry Potter series. I kind of like how it was handled, how we were just given hints and brief mentions of an extensive past. Past accomplishments, past failures and regrets. Sometimes filling in the blanks is just as fun as having the entire thing spelled out for the reader. It just has that sense of potential.<br /> <br /> Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
