They finally built a new building by the time I left for college. I also liked the old library building at Northern Illinois University, partly because I worked there and also because I knew all the really quiet nooks and crannies for studying. When they moved to a new building it wasn't the same (partly due to the carpeting which could produce dizzy spells just looking at it).

As an author, yes, I've donated copies of my books to libraries in my old home town and at my alma mater and new home town.

Kathy Sullivan (since blogger isn't recognizing me)Kathy Sullivanhttp://kathrynsullivan.com/noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2874501477620914375.post-51607895169385495552011-08-02T16:57:33.014-04:002011-08-02T16:57:33.014-04:00So sweet I love it! But I've also got a soft spot for the College of New Caledonia's library because of the stewardship of its director, a librarian's librarian, Kathy Plett.Lyndahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07788269318643736775noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2874501477620914375.post-73705899461974586032011-08-01T22:41:58.375-04:002011-08-01T22:41:58.375-04:00My first library included the book mobile that wou...My first library included the book mobile that would come to our elementary school. Used to love going to the book mobile to check out books.

In high school my favorite library was the Martin Luther King Library. I'd often stop here to check out books, read, do my homework, and just to find a 'safe' place. Interesting that most of my high school years are a blurb except for the times I went to this library.

In college I worked at the circulation desk at the Harold B. Lee Library at BYU. I met lots of people there including Jay Osmond and Sharlene Wells, who was the 1985 Miss America. Loved being around books though I do admit I was jealous of my room mate Terry who had a job at the BYU bookstore.Kim Baccelliahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05304806976633973536noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2874501477620914375.post-63880474024903796372011-08-01T22:16:07.782-04:002011-08-01T22:16:07.782-04:00Unfortunately, I have no memories of libraries whe...Unfortunately, I have no memories of libraries when I was a child. I wasn't a reader. I know, I know. Sad but true. I did use the library when I was older for research for school papers, but as far as checking out books to read for pleaure, nope. I don't remember school libraries either.

Today, though, my favorite libraries are the small one where I live. It's in a beautiful old house that was donate to the city when the owners died, with the stipulation that it would be used as a library. I also like the larger library in the big city nearby because the librarians are so nice and helpful when I need research. Lovely photo. Looks like a place you could go to and relax with a good book. :)Beverly Stowe McClurehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02176195451841801819noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2874501477620914375.post-56920333555026157852011-08-01T13:34:15.102-04:002011-08-01T13:34:15.102-04:00Of course my favorite is my hometown library, the ...Of course my favorite is my hometown library, the Lovell Public Library. "Met" many of my still-favorite authors in that library. They had a great collection for such a small town. I've failed to find some of my favorites in big city libraries.Paulinehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06673963438671468441noreply@blogger.com
