Summer Time

Ah, Summertime. The time to kick back and relax. Right?

What's that? Your not relaxing? Your weekends are filled with invitations to barbecues and parties?

Your kids are begging you to take them to the water park, the amusement park, the beach, the pool. Pretty much your kids are just begging you to take them someplace.

Routines are thrown off. Tempers get short in the heat.

And the back-to-school flyers are already showing up on your doorstep.

Where is the time to kick back with a tall glass of lemonade and read a good book while sitting in a hidden garden spot?

The time is now.

Find a book. Get a glass of lemonade. Or ice tea. Or ice coffee. Or whatever your summertime drink of choice is. Find a comfy spot. And read.

And tell me in the comments what you're going to read.

As for me, I've just finished Maureen Johnson's The Last Little Blue Envelope and I've been reading some F. Scott Fitzgerald short stories and am about to re-read The Great Gatsby.

  1. Well, my summer has just been thrown a curve with my mother-in-law deciding she wants to move back down here. But in the meantime I'm trying to do some reading and we still are going to the $1 weekly family movie, the community pool, and also taking part in the summer library reading program. Oh, and also just finished scout camp. Next month son will be in soccer camp.

I just finished reading two books that aren't YA: SISTERHOOD EVERLASTING by Anne Brashares and OVERBITE by Meg Cabot.

  2. I've been debating weather I should read those. I read the first ones in both those series.

  3. Loved SISTERHOOD EVERLASTING. OVERBITE though was a little too anticlimatic for me with an ending I just didn't buy.

  4. I'm staying inside mostly to keep cool. My current read is Fire Men for Tribute Books tour. I couldn't resist it since my hubby is a retired firefighter.

Other books I've read recently are Cinder and Ella, by Melissa Lemon, The Day Before, by Lisa Schroeder (loved this one), and Nancy Rue's Boyfriends, Burritos, and an Ocean of Trouble (which I also loved.)

Have a stack of books to read, but slowing down with my books coming out soon.

  5. Loved THE DAY BEFORE. I'd like to read another book that's not YA. Not sure which one though...

  6. My summertime? A nice cuppa hot coffee, a sweatshirt, long pants and a place out of the cold and rain. LOL Yeah, summer? What's that? I understand it's actually warm and sunny in some places...
